Lee’s Corner

Hey everybody!!! I’ve been patiently figuring out how to handle a pregnant wife. So far it has been pleasant. I try to pick up a few extra chores and pick up my clothes that don’t quite make it to the hamper since E is busy growing our child. I’m getting very excited and am ready to find out what it is so I can go ahead and start shopping for baseball gloves and camouflage (just a hunch).

E has been a great pregnant wife so far. She definitely is Glowing and is looking prettier every day. Thankfully there has been no morning sickness or mood swings to deal with. I honestly think this experience has made our marriage 100 times stronger and I am ready to expand our little family.

There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to the house: moving furniture, painting rooms, buying new furniture, baby cloths, etc. I’ll leave all the shopping up to E….I’ll be the manual laborer.

Month 4 Doctor's Appointment

We had our monthly appointment this morning. Everything sounded great! We were able to hear the heartbeat for a few minutes. We also heard the little bleps of the baby moving around.

Our next visit is for the BIG ultrasound on June 17th!

Week 16

Here we are (Bella, Baby G and me, that is) at 16 weeks. Think someone is starting to feel left out?! Time is flying by and we are looking into furniture and bedding which I am finding to be really overwhelming. There are a lot of choices and I am having a hard time making a decision, which is really not like me at all!

Baby G is moving on up to the size of a naval orange, weighing 2 to 3 ounces and 4.5 inches. It's able to move around, breathe and suck...but, I have not felt anything yet. I am hoping to feel some action in the next few weeks.

Week 13

Here we are at 13 weeks. I have a little bump, barely visible under most of my clothes. My jeans don't button, so I'm getting help from the Bella Band! I have ordered some maternity pants & tops from The Gap and have a feeling I will be living in dresses this summer!

We are moving through the vegetable aisle as we reach the end of the first trimester. Right now Baby G is about 3 inches long or the size of a peach. Intestines and vocal cords are developing this week. I am feeling a lot more energetic and am looking forward to the long warm days of summer.

Sharing the news...

So up until now, we have kept our little secret to ourselves. It's been fun, but we've had a few close calls with friends and family asking questions and you know me, I can't keep a secret. Thanks Mom for passing on that trait to me!

We decided to tell my parents over Easter Weekend and man did we knock their socks off! We headed down to MB early on Friday afternoon for dinner. I made up a little card, that read Happy Easter and had the ultrasound photo on the inside. Over dessert we shared the card and it took a few minutes for them to catch on. Sara & Craig were in Charleston, so I gave them a quick phone call and Preston heard the news a little later when he finished up at work. We really surprised everyone!!

It was really hard for my mom to keep her secret at church on Easter Sunday, but she did it! We wanted to share with Lee's family first, so I told Mom to keep it in the vault for at least 1 week.

The next weekend we were off to Florence, under the pretense that we would be helping out at Hobnob during the flower show at the Farmer's Market. We stopped off first in Darlington to see Lee's dad and MaMa. We gave Charles his card & photo and he was really excited yelling out WooHoo! Getting time with Suzanne was a bit harder. We waited ALL day for some time alone and when she opened her card she though it was a big joke. After 5 or so minutes of explaining everything and promising it was the truth, she fell out in her desk chair!

A few phone calls over the weekend and following week...we had the family covered. We are so excited and blessed knowing that we have a lot of support behind us! We love you all!

Lima Bean's 2nd Photo Op

Since the dates and size of our lima bean were not matching up, we went in for a second ultrasound today. This one was really amazing because we could actually see the baby wiggling around. It reminded me of a little worm moving. The heartbeat and size measured in at 9 weeks, so we are right on track!

Baby G's first closeup!

Here is Baby G at 6 weeks - March 25, 2009

This week the baby is between a fifth and a quarter of an inch (or the size of a nailhead). Baby's jaws, cheeks and chin are developing along with little ears and eyes. Truly a miracle from God and we are thankful!

We are doing great too. I have been extremely tired, sleeping and resting a lot - really a fun date! Lee is fine with that and doing his best to entertain himself after I go to bed at 7:30! I can barely stay awake through dinner and am really glad we got DVR so I can watch all the shows I miss!!
