NC Aquarium @ Fort Fisher

Back in January, we enjoyed a fun Saturday morning at the NC Aqaurium @ Fort Fisher.

It's the perfect size to tour in just a few hours and it wasn't crowded since it's the dead of winter! The have a 2-story conservatory with fish, birds, turtles, snakes and alligators. It's home to an albino aligator - this guy...

And this very friendly guy. Gracyn's not too impressed, huh?

But she loved the fish and called them all 'Bubbles' - that's the Beta fish at school's name.

She wasn't really into touching anything or observing for too long. But we covered the whole place, had zero meltdowns, enjoyed a nice snack outside - with a quick dance session (see below) and made it home for lunch & nap with no tears. Pretty successful, in my opinion!

Come on Spring!

A quick weekend roundup. After weeks of nasty, harsh winter weather, Mother Nature graced us with a gorgeous preview of Spring. Warm weather + blue skies, we'll take it. We got our weekend chores out of the way on Saturday morning. Target for crayons & other items, TJMaxx for some new Eric Carle books and Harris Teeter...WHEW! Lee took on the yard, major challenge.

On Sunday, we played hooky from church and after a nice breakfast & 'nack for G we took off for the beach, all 4 of us. Bella was anxious to swim and not too happy that we didn't oblige. G had fun with her shades & digging in the sand. She's going to have a blast this summer at the beach. And Lee & I, well we just enjoyed.

A Clemson Parent's Dream Come True!

One day she will hate us for this, but here's Gracyn's latest skill. Thanks Daddy!

14 Months

Gracyn,

People ask me "How old is she?" and I never know how to respond. Do I say "Oh, she's 1?" or "14 months"? I'll just stick with continuing to count by month until you're at least 18 months. I'm sure that'll be here before I know it.

It's a new year, 2011, and I can't help but look back to where you were this time last year. So tiny and small, so dependent on your Mommy & Daddy to take care of you. You've grown so much. You can feed yourself, you communicate with grunts or by pointing, you understand how to get dressed and push your arms or legs through your shirt or pants. It's amazing to watch you grow and learn. And, boy, have you learned a lot since moving into your new class. You've added so much to your vocabulary, you're thriving on one nap a day. They tell me everyday how funny, sweet and happy you are. You really make us laugh!

Here's what you've been up to:
Clothes: 12m + some 12-18m (Yeah for new clothes for Christmas!)
Shoes: 4.5-5
Diapers: Size 4
Naps: Just one a day in the afternoon. Some days just for 1 hour and others for up to 4 hours. You're a great sleeper!
Eating: You really love to eat! You're definitely our child. You got some really great dessert over Christmas - ice cream, pie and cookies - and you love sweets!

When you had ice cream for the first time this month you would take a bite from your daddy's spoon, eat it with your eyes closed, then run off. You would come running back with your mouth open for more, saying "MMM!". You're too much.

Words: Mama, Mommy, Dada, ogg (dog), more, all ga (all gone), baby (anyone in a photograph is a baby), bu-be (Bubbles the fish @ school), Hi (hold her hand to her ear like she's on the phone!), Bye (wave)
